Research Interests | Research has been ongoing on the southern African region, especially Zambia and the Sahel region in West Africa. Following the revision in Zambia’s land laws, there has been foreign investment in mining and large-scale plantations in the customary land based on communal land. This has resulted in the loss of livelihood base for local people because they were evicted. In Sahel region of West Africa, armed conflict is now intensifying in the farmers are expanding their farmland and thus limiting land for pastoral people of Fulbe and Tuareg to graze their livestock during the rainy season. This research analyzes the types of conflicts that exist between people of livelihood mode in order to search for the possibilities for the resolution. |
