Research Interests | I have conducted research in the border region of Ethiopia and Kenya where sporadic armed conflicts occur between pastoral groups. An analysis has been conducted on the role of the battle experience by conflict participants and the amicable social relationships (cross-cutting ties) between different ethnic groups in the peace-restoration process. This research project plans to focus on peace-building activities promoted by the government and activities by vigilante groups for the prevention of conflicts. In addition, I will study the on-going large-scale land acquisition by private capital across the African continent and its effects on local societies. |
